Two-Tone Wellness Cocktail

I don’t get sick very often. That’s fortunate for my boyfriend, Ben, because when I do, I become a snotty, sneezy, generally disgusting bundle of germs and he gets to be my human Kleenex. If I could be not-around-me when I’m sick, I would.DSC_0114 As the tissues pile into a mucus-y pyramid by my bedside and my room starts to look like one of those fill-cups-with-water-on-all-surfaces pranks, I’m getting to the end of my rope. Fortunately, I have time this weekend to drink tea and watch episodes of 30 Rock and make vitamin C-charged drinks (the three known cures to the common cold). This cocktail is turning out to be a miracle worker. I’ve had three in the last 24 hours and am starting to feel like an actual human being again. Forget store-bought OJ, this stuff rocks. PLUS, all that good vitamin C complements the iron in spinach and helps your body absorb it. So, down a couple of these bad boys and you’ll be breathing through your nose again before you can say AH-CHOO.

Two-Tone Wellness Cocktail

  • 3 tangelo oranges (super juicy and easy to peel!) peeled and pith removed
  • 2 cups spinach, rinsed
  • 1/2″ chunk of ginger

Combine all of the ingredients in a juicer. Do the oranges first and then the spinach and ginger for a groovy tie-dye look. Serve chilled, or store in tightly sealed container in the fridge.
